The Cortez FFA had 4 teams compete at the Four States Ag Expo Judging competition. They were: Ag. Mechanics-Matt Thompson and Tanner Sayler, Livestock Judging: Makayla Johnson, Kambria Wilkins and Naomi Fish, Floral Contest: Sidnie  Majors, Sarah McDonald and Rylee Finley, Horse Judging: Miguel Estrada, Amber Fuller and Chevelle Reed. The Floral Team ended up 3rd overall and the Horse Team ended up 2nd overall with Miguel earning 3rd high individual and Amber earning 2nd high individual. Congratulations to all the FFA teams!


Congratulations to the 12 hours of Mesa Verde poster contest winners.  Regina Schuster, Seirra Rotseart, and Saria Cruzan all tied for first place  They will receive 250 dollars each and have their art made into the posters for this event.  Out of three schools and online students 3 out 4 of the top prizes went to M-CHS. Well done Panthers!


Seniors have a class meeting during FIT today in the auditorium to vote for class song, motto, speaker, etc. AND to take the class picture.


Attention Sophomores there will be a San Juan College Tour April 6th from 9:00 am- 3:00 pm Sign up in the Counseling Office.


As part ot the Ute College and Career Fair, UMU Education is inviting all M-CHS UMU juniors and seniors to attend the Fair on Wednesday, March 21st. This is a great opportunity for students to visit different presentations sponsored by a variety of colleges, universities, tribal departments, and businesses. Participating students will be provided lunch at the fair prior to their returning to school. In order to be eligible to attend the UMU Tribal College & Career Fair: Student must be passing the classes you will miss while in attendance at the fair; Have no pending discipline issues; not have excessive absences; and return a signed permission form by your parent or guardian no later than March 20th. The permission form can be picked up in the High School Office.


The Ute Mountain Mesa Verde 14th Annual Birding Festival is offering an "Especially for Teens" tour. This tour will be held Sunday May 13, 2018 starting at 6:45 am at the Cortez Cultural Center.This is a half day trip to Summit Reservoir and the surrounding 526-acre state wildlife area. There are a limited number of scholarships available to cover tour fee. Further information is available through the Cortez Cultural Center: info@cortezculteralcenter.org Deadline is April 15, 2018. Seniors:  A representative from Ft. Lewis will be on campus this Friday at 1:00 P.M. to meet with accepted students.  The rep will go over your next steps: the confirmation process, housing options, scholarship options, etc. Please sign up ASAP in the guidance office for an individual meeting with the rep.
