Congratulations to the varsity knowledge bowl team who placed 3rd during the Palisade invitational, Saturday, October 14.

The competition was tough with teams from 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A divisions. Way to go panthers! Coach Mrs. McVicker is very proud of you all.

DID YOU KNOW: Our  M-CHS Entrepreneur Class is a student lead business through our Coffee Club and Screen Printing offerings. Here our Ag students model the tee-shirts they ordered from the screen printing class for their Hesperus Leadership Conference. Second picture is our screen printers hard at work.

Halloween Candy Guessing Contest in the Library - now through October 30. Closest guess by a student whose library account is in good standing (no fines or overdue books) wins all the candy. The winner will be announced on the morning of October 31.

Students: ​Winters Sports' (Basketball: Boys & Girls,  Cheer, Dance​, Girls Swim, Wrestling) first day of practice starts on Friday, November 10th.  If you have not turned in your physical and additional paperwork, please do so as soon as possible. You will not be able to start practice until you have turned in your physical. GO PANTHERS!


Take advantage of another Cortez teacher workday and join us for a movie & popcorn & a craft at the Cortez Public Library.  This fun event is taking place on Friday, Oct. 27, from noon to 3 pm.  The movie being shown is the popular "The Secret Life of Pets" and the craft will be pet themed.  This event is brought to you at no charge.  All ages welcome!  The library is located at 202 N. Park St., Cortez, CO. and may be reached by calling 970-565-8117.


Scholastic Publishing is hosting a Student Poetry Contest. Each student may submit only one original poem on any subject, of no less than 2 lines and no more than 20 lines, in any form other than concrete or blackout. Complete rules and restrictions are posted online www.scholasticpublishing.org. You may also pick up an entry form in the Counseling Office. Mailing deadline: November 8; Online deadline: November 15, 2017. First place $500, cash prizes for entering. *
